I went back to outdoor running today, after three months just getting indoor cardio. Holy crap, what a difference. Oh, sure, my heart and lungs were all like "oh, hey, we remember this!" but my legs were all about "dude, really, WTF? three months of jumping around the living room and now we have to run on ground?"
So, I expect there will be a period of reconditioning before I'm really back up to speed. It better be a short period because I think it takes longer to get IN shape than it does to get OUT of shape. And I'd like to think I didn't get too bad over the winter. Did cardio, ate reasonably, planned for spring.
And now, it's finally time to get running again.
but still play hours of Kingdom of Amalur, right?

so i have a bunch of 5X8 index cards. I grabbed three and did some stuff and this came out.

obviously it IS possible to misplace artwork for a year or more then find it again later. Most things not in sketchbooks get slipped into one of my portfolios. Somehow this was in a stack of books or magazines or something. It's older but I still think it's kinda neat.
It was just about December of last year when i got the Kinect for my X Box. I was feeling a little chubby at the time and really wanted to move in the right direction...not the fatter direction. So, if you recall, I began using the Kinect almost every day and did feel the effect. By the beginning of March I was ready to take it on the road to test and took up running. Something I did briefly in high school. And it turned into an all year run session. One that I only actually broke in December. The days were either too short or too cold and It was weird to just run on weekends because that doesn't really accomplish much.
So, how happy was I that I found Your Shape 2012, the sequel to the game/routine that started me off. Lots more routines and things to do. Greater variety will keep me going until this March when I get back outside...weather permitting.
The best routine in the new game so far is called Run the World. It might just be running in place but the kinect gives you virtual New York or London to run through. pretty cool I must say. So since I spent all year reclaiming my 32 inch waist, I feel confident that I can keep it over the winter until I start up running again.
And that's with hours of SKYRIM and anime under my 32 inch belt.
...and hey, how cool is the upgrade on X Box Live? very nice.

So I hear from my brother in law that my nephew has "beaten" Skyrim. What we know from this is that my nephew is still a young man...and a bit of a "rush in" gamer. because I have been playing Skyrim since the midnight release and haven't even touched any major plot points. I've run all over the map, explored caves, dungeons, ruins, castles, cities, towns. And had huge amounts of fun. and can't say when I might eventually "beat" the game. because that's not my goal. It's a huge rich world that I need to live in for a long time.and if you need to show what an Uber-Gamer you are by blowing past such amazing content..then go play Modern Warfare 3...
