Season 2 of Farscape is on Netflix instant-vue. Anybody needs me I'll be thru the wormhole with Moya and the crew. That Chiana is a hottie.

I was doing some much needed straightening in my studio and noted that of the ones I can get to I have seventeen full sketchbooks. You guys keep yours together and how many do you have full?
I suppose some of you may have writing journals in place of sketchbooks..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inker

from time to time we need to remind folks (who don't read comics) just what we inkers do.
please note the credits box always has "written by, penciled by, inked by, colored by, lettered by, edited by."
seems like an inker doesn't do the same job that the colorist does...
really.

holy carp. the next project? Zombies. I've wanted a zombie project for a long time. and not to be trendy, just because I freakin luvs me teh Zombies.

the latest original piece. again pen and ink on bristol board.

when my twisted psyche walks into Home Depot, THIS is usually what I have in mind, not vinyl siding...

the steam powered power-glove worn by all evil Scientists bent on world domination. Later I'll post the entire outfit.

another original piece. Pen and Ink on bristol.

This project was huge fun to work on and the second time I got to ink Henry. Between projects he went off and got famous at Marvel. Then came back and still wanted me to ink him!
cool.

yes. it's true. not ONE of the FIVE people who sit in my immediate area at the day job knew that Where the Wild Things Are is a f-ing book published in 19 f-ing 63. Office workers- MADE OF FAIL.

Henry and I did League of Champions #13 a few years back and it's finally out! Go order a copy right now it's great stuff.

Finally heard back. The website and email is being migrated to a new server. The Studio site, and the team is being restructured and streamlined.
I'm still in, which is all that matters.. Dwayne and I think our submission was as solid as any in the 50 Girls 50 top ten, although maybe not as "trendy". But so what, looks like the studio is set to take 2010 by storm!
boo-yah!

Hardway Studios appears to have imploded. as of this entry the website is gone, my yahoo business email is gone. I have emailed a few people thru face book or deviant art with no reply. So I may never know. But, if I can't figure it out I can certainly move to another studio for inking needs,
Of course, that will leave Supremacy unpublished and the Suicide Note graphic novel unpublished, which is junk. I just hope someone tells me soon what did happen. There were plans for next year cooking and now who knows.
We'll wait and see before I commit to any other jobs.

I decided to paint a pumpkin this year for the first time. Turned out ok I say. And designing and building the crown was fun.

[my pumpkin will live out the rest of it's days at a local children's hospital. Sounds like a fine life for the old Jack to me. I wonder what they'll do with the crown after the holiday?]

some week end shennanigans from the sketchbook. crowquill work, unlike the brush work from all the comics...

Current Mood: weird weird

I was going to say what a crappy weekend I had but then realized how I spent my time. 3 hours of MST3K on Netflix, watched Rob Zombie's Haunted World of El SuperBeasto, worked the door at a Halloween wax figure museum. So not really a total loss. My conplaint is- no artwork accomplished and to me that makes for an unproductive weekend. but it was fun and I might get some stuff done during the week when I've had a chance to look around and see what folks were able to do with 24 hour comic book day.
.

yesterday was one of those days that Caitlín R. Kiernan so often refers to on her LJ as a lost day. I'm usually pretty disciplined about getting things done, but yesterday, monday, was a loss.
Things that needed to be done weren't, which puts me a day behind and therefore needing to do double time tonight. I had assumed more time to get pages done, but the penciller wants them back before we post them because he has some digital effects in mind that he want to tackle himself. So fine, but he's chopped about two days off the time I get to do my part.
And it really doesn't help that yesterday evening was mostly couch potato time. I know plenty of people look forward to a nice quiet evening of shutting off the brain, no harm there, but I don't have time for goof off until early next week.
which is why now I feel behind. because of one day of having cheese and bread and wine and cartoons rather than the couple of hours I needed to be doing something else.
I'm sure it'll al work out, but right now I have day time obligations keeping me from getting more important things done.
meh.
On the other hand, it is now officially Autumn and we're only a few days away from ther first day of Halloween!

Holy carp. Dwayne just offered me a side project to ink outside of Hardway that could be huge. serious exposure if we pull it off. Not sure how much I can mention but looks like I will know more before the end of the weekend.

[edited to add] it's for a major publisher on the west coast, we start work next week, so there are a few of you that I have promised artwork to and I'll be doing it over this weekend to "get it out of the way" but don't worry, I won't rush or anything. I have some good ideas based on your profiles and things should come together rather late at night on sunday.
the project is Sci-Fi with space ships, astronauts and such, should be huge fun.
I had a chance to talk to Dwayne earlier and we had a chance to fan-boy on each other. I love his pencils and he admitted that he thinks I add a whole new level to his stuff that he loves. So, we definitely will be producing another metric ton of comic book pages together.
